VC Baffle Removal/ installation new way?
so i decided i was going to tap my valve cover for -10 fittings because i have been having some crank case pressure issues, so as you all know you run into the problem of getting shavings inside your baffles. i couldn't bring myself to just rinsing it out and HOPING it was all good.
so after i drilled out the rivets and took out the baffles and cleaned everything up it was time to put them back in.
so i had a few options, drilling and tapping holes is a must:
1. loctite and but the bolt in... i didn't like that one because they MIGHT back out
2. safety wire the loctite bolts so they cant back out ( PITA )
3. MY option. i found the baffle is metal and just spot welded the threaded in bolts to the baffle so there is NO WAY except with a grinder the bolts will come out. i loctited the bolts aswell, as long as putting a little honda bond around the edge of the baffle to seal it down (like factory)
heres some pic of the spot welds and bolts
and here is what the baffling looks like if anyone is wondering
and here is the cover done, scuffed and ready for repaint
i feel more comfortable with them tack welded and i havent seen anyone try it on here so i figured id post it up and how it worked for me

no i cant weld magnesium, but the baffles themselves are metal, and when i loctited the metal bolts in, i just tack welded the bolts to the baffle so there is no possible way they can back out
then if i ever need to remove them all i need is a little grinder

Great job. I just took mine apart again and will be welding the baffles, but with magnesium and no bolts.
The first time I did the baffles I drilled the holes straight down instead of an angle and ended up putting a hole in the side. So I'll be welding/grinding that too.
