How to fix a leaky V-band?

Hey guys,

I have an ETS v-band manifold to a precision turbo and I'm getting a small leak on the turbo inlet. (worst place ever!)

My research showed that the flanges maybe warped. Is it possible to use those V-band gaskets to help it seal? Or some sort of copper gasket paste?

I would pm ETS after putting a straight edge over each surface and confirming the warp

I prefer to put "interlocking lip". Basically the v bands would look like this:

___|__ |______
___ __ ______
| |

So the left vband has a lip that sticks out and slides into the right vband.

Sometimes the exhaust piping is 3" Outer Dieameter and Vband is 3" Inner Diameter . In that case all you have to do is grab a 3" outer diameter pipe. Cut a section out that can slide inside both ends of the Vband and that will seal it. No welding needed.

Example:

___| |___
________| ______ |____________

________ ______ ____________
|___ ___|
| |

Below pic is MAPerofrmance 3" o2 housing. Notice the o2 housing vband has a lip that sticks out and it will slide into the downpipe vband. I had there o2 housing before. Loved how they made this interlock. From observation a lone, they basically slid over the vband and left a little (maybe half inch) of the pipe protrude and welded in place. When the two halfs (o2 and downpipe) mate, they create a smooth transition.

You could also try using this:

or
Maybe even take a copper sheet and cutout a DIY gasket .
