Headgames does great headwork, they do John Shepherd's heads.
They like to stay stock size but have great results doing it.

Thanks guys!

You certainly have options. Although, I am a little biased, I think HeadGames would be a great choice

When it comes to extracting maximum flow potential and consistency, nothing beats a multi-axis CNC port job. It isn't the cheapest option, but the best options are rarely the least expensive.

Our stage 3 and stage 5 cylinder heads are actually CNC ported and hand polished

I haven't found a CNC head that I couldn't beat by hand. They are good for getting the job out the door and consistent if the core is consistent.

A few notes:

- For the sake of maintaining perspective when comparing apples to oranges, a 1500whp VR38DETT (GTR) is 395hp/L. This is equivalent to a 2.0L EVO making 780whp.

- While there is nothing that technically prevents optimized CNC ports from being duplicated by hand, this isn't standard fare. Achieving the same individual flow characteristics and consistency as the CNC work, and proving it, would be both far more time consuming and more expensive than CNC porting.

This is why AMS picked up 33whp on their 518whp 2.3 (93 octane) simply by swapping their own proven hand-ported race head for an optimized CNC port with no other changes:

Just FYI

Just FYI
but their hand ported head (which was HeadGames ported) was not even close to the CC volume of the CNC head. So big, that they had to stop offering it because they crack. The graph shown shows a better peak power number but it doesn't beat it everywhere. So, we are not really comparing apples to apples. Maybe some "head porters' could not get consistant results. But, I know a few shops that are dead nuts consistant by hand. Just can't do the volume a CNC can. And you can measure the consistency easily with a telescoping gauge.

I totally stand by the fact that there has not been a cnc head come here that we could not improve on. It's more then just a port. It's the valve job too. The Cosworth is one head that benefits greatly from a better valve job. Pick up 10-20 cfm on that thing everywhere!

But what do I know. We only do it everyday...
