CEL just came on and car started bucking...

I just got done spraying my car off and when I was leaving the car wash my car kinda acted funny. I didn't think nothing about it at first til it started to kinda buck on deceleration. I just tried to drive it normal, but it was almost impossible. By the time I got home it stopped doing it, but not the CEL is on.

Do you guys think that the MAF got wet while I was spraying it? I have the HKS RS intake and it seem to have some water on it, but I'm just not sure. I just disconnected my battery and I'm just gonna let it sit for a while and hope it won't come back on after I put it back on and go for a drive.

Any ideas?

Is there anyway you can get the code read/pull? That should help a lot at least to find why did the CEL came on?

next time its probably better idea to pull the code first before you reset the ecu that way you have an idea of whats wrong.

I'm not sure how to check a code to be honest. I hooked up the battery and the CEL didn't come back on. I took it for a 15 minute drive and all seems fine now without a CEL.

Could one of you fill me in on how to check the code for the future?

Corey, any Autozone will check it for you for free. Or buy an OBD-II scanner.

Yeah....I know that. I guess I just paniced and just tried to get it home as fast as possible. I'm not even sure the Autozone by me is even open that late.

Thanks though.

water

I had this with my wrx numerous times....Water on the intake is the issue....it will dry off and your hesitation should stop.

Take off your intake and dry it with a blowdryer....replace and restart....

Let us know what happens

If you are going to wash the engine bay and you havean open element type filter you sholud put a plastic bag over it. That sholud help you avoid that.

I cleaned my car today by hand and put a towel over the filter so I wouldn't have that problem again.

I haven't drove it since lastnights test drive so I'm guessing that it's still okay.

BTW....I wasn't cleaning the engine bay. This happened with the hood closed and just spraying off the outside of my car.
