What timing belt and water pump for evo9??

So I thought id get a 2014 updated thread since the others are pretty outdated.

What kind of timing belt and water pump is suggested for an evo 9

Timing belt- Gates or GMB?

Water pump- OEM or Gates?

I'm running a 2.3l stroker w/ a big turbo so what is the best way to go in terms of both?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't really matter if you use Gates or OEM water pump / timing belt. They both work fine. I've seen people saying that the kevlar belts will last longer, but when it comes to timing belts, you should have regular maintenance no matter what.

As for the water pump, again both work perfectly. People seem to choose the Gates over the OEM because it's top quality for a cheaper price.

for the timing belt, I was looking into the one map has but other shops say its only for evo 8/dsm whereas map says its for evo 8/9/dsm.

Evo 8 and 9 timing belts are the same. They just added the Mivec oil feed and revised the alternator bracket for the Evo 9. Otherwise, everything else is the same.

So can I get the Evo 8 timing belt and that's it.. Or would I need to get something for that alternator bracket too?

No you won't need anything other than the timing belt... An Evo 8 or 9 timing belt will suffice.

Sorry, I meant the water pump. Do I have to buy something for the alternator bracket if I go with the 8 water pump.. Or should I just go with a 9 pump
