I am doing the timing belt on my Evo 9 but Im having an issue with the cam slipping a few degrees at certain points. see video right around the end of the video, you can see the cam slip and hear the snap. any idea what it could be ?

That's normal. It will go away once oil fills the cam gear and builds pressure. The check valve in the solenoid will hold the oil there once it's filled. That noise will go away as soon as the car starts or you prime the block.

I thought something was wrong myself the first time I built an IX. Some people prime the oil pump with a drill, but I don't bother. I use assembly lube on my builds and pour oil across the cams. Things are good in a couple seconds after start-up.

does this video still exist? I am having what i imagine to be the same sound on a fresh rebuild and its halted my progress as i don't want to mess anything up. or if anyone can point me to a youtube video of timing the the 9 that actually has some one manually turning the motor.
