rods or pistons for 2.3L?

rods or pistons for 2.3L?
so, it looks like, to build a 2.3L, i can either do my stock-length 150mm rods and 2.3L pistons OR stock-sized pistons with 144mm rods?
is this right? i ask because it seems most people are doing the 150mm+pistons. seems like it would be more beneficial to run a shorter rod, if possible.
