evo 8 making a whining sound,

evo 8 makes a whining sound once i shift into 2 and 3rd and ease into the gas, seems to be coming from front driverside area, any ideas? Car still runs and drives 100% no grinding into gears or anything.

Does it make the sound at idle too if you rev up the engine?

Can you take a video of the sound for us?

I think we're all guessing blind here if you can't provide a video or something.

Good luck!

Prob transfer case. I know it doesn't make sense since you heard it from driver front but it's hard to pinpoint sound when rolling the window down. Post a video when u get a chance

This sounds like its coming from the transmission not the transfer case.

Does it only do it in those two gears, and only while accelerating? Normally transfer case gear whine occurs at higher speeds and cruise/light acceleration. If the noise goes away in higher gears, it is most obviously not engine related, unless wind noise drowns it out.

have you tried the simple stuff like checking the fluids in the trans and transfer case? If not start there.
