FP Green on stock internals?

I'm looking to get a bigger than stock turbo for an 05 MR, and was wondering if I could run the FP Green on stock internals? I was wondering, since there are so many people that know way more than I do on the subject, what you all would recommend upgrading in conjunction with the new turbocharger. I'm not looking for a 1000hp monster (yet) but a nice bump in power would be nice. I’m on stock internals (for now) so I don't want to go to crazy, I still want a reliable car. I know I'm going to need a tune, so I want to do a few other things too just to kill two birds with one stone.

Just to know if I'm way off or not, what I was thinking was headers, down pipe, up pipe, Fluidampr harmonic balancer, intake (pre turbo) and a tune. How far off am I. what should I do, what shouldn't I do.

Ported IM and TB as well as ported EM and O2 housing/down pipe and exhaust. These would be good mods that would keep the low end power as well as get you some extra HP. You will need injectors and fuel pump also as well as a tune.

I ran the older version fpgreen that had a ported & coated hotside using the stock 4G63 internals, injen upper and lower piping, stock intercooler, Walbro 255, Megan downpipe, Tanabe exhaust (I think) with mid-muffler, bpr7es NGK plugs, and made 350/340 hp/tq to the wheels. Perfect IMO for daily driver. Drove great and kept gas mileage affordable.

you will need injectors and a fuel pump. I recommend a bigger intercooler and LICP as well.

Your evo doesn't have a EJ25, no up pipe required

how hard could I push it with stock internals? I'm "that guy" who likes to downshift and listen to the exhaust for a few blocks followed by some hard pulls. I wouldn't say I beat the **** out of, but I definitely like to give it a workout and push her from time to time. will I need to do anything oil wise? Another question, I hear mixed things BOV wise. Is it true 4g63's don't respond well to 100% atmospheric blows?

Get a Evo IX bov and call it a day. If you get the FP Green you'll need the FP oil line. Although there have been people who have done it, I wouldn't push the stock block past 500whp. Torque is a different story, keep your torque down. Don't push it past 400wtq. 380wtq is a safe amout. Keep in mind that your MR has the 6 speed gearbox and that is significantly weaker than the 5 speed so I be sure to keep it around 380wtq for it.

Good info. I want to upgrade my turbo next year when my 05 EVO makes it's 10 year anniversary under one owner "me!"

I was thinking of their turbo options as well. I want to keep the same spool up as close as possible to stock as well. That will be one of my decsision makers.

How is it that a bigger turbo is safer for an engine then a smaller turbo?

It is all about the torque.
