EVO Con rods & pistons

Greetings masters,
Quick questions, does the forged billet crower con rods for the 2nd gen eclipse/talon/laser 4G63 fit without any hassles into the lan evo 7/8 4G63? And what about pistons?

Cheers!

I don't know about those particular rods but I've heard of people using Crower rods in EVO4-8.

I got Eagle rods and custom made JE pistons from Buschur Racing for a couple of my friends. They are not installed yet but I presume they will work like a charm.

I may be wrong, but I beleive that the pin offset is different in the earlier cars. I just had Wiseco make a set of pistons for an EVO 8 motor I am doing and they said that the offset was different from the earlier motors since the intake and exhaust runs in from opposite sides in the later cars.

I think that you guys are right about the pistons being incompatible... however how about the con rods? Even the eagle website doesnt have any onfo on the conrods for the evo, but evoVII swe arent you using eagle rods? If so were they custom? I have a feeling that the 93 onwards 4G63 is compatible with the evo 4G63 but i'd like some confimation....so are we under the 7 bolt 4G63s then? can anyone help us out?

Well, I'm not 100% sure about the Eagle rods but my guess is that they are the same as the 2G's since the ones I got weren't custom made as far as I know. David @ Buschur Racing should be able to answer that.

Hint. Evo rods work fine in dsm 7 bolt motors. They are the same dimensions. The piston pin offset is backwards. So you have to get a piston made for the evo8.

That is exactly what i wanted to hear man... thanks alot.. I plan to fit JE stroker pistons on the rods with the stock crank... these pistons have a 86mm bore and the same stroke i think... what do you guys think? I am looking for a bit more bhp but more importantly torque across the entire rev range especially on the low to mid range... i dont plan reving the car to high heavens... probably 7500rpm at the most... the turbine ill be using is a evo 6 tme td05hra with the titanium impeller boosting at about 1.6bar/22.4psi...

So, are you using a longer stroke crank or the standard 2.0ltr unit? If you use the standard then why use stroker pistons? These will just lower the comp. ratio and make the lower and mid ranges crap. IMO, if you where retaining the standard crank, then I would go for HIGHER comp pistons (around 9.0-1 is cool). These (with the correct mods) would give you a much more tractable engine.

Ps, with the above done you will have a REALY quick car. By the way, you can run those turbos to around 2.0 bar in the mid range. This will drop quite quickly but think of all that torque hehe!

Sorry chuntington101... i made a mistake... i meant overbored pistons at 86mm instead of the usual 85 or 85.5mm, I will be using the stock crank and the stock stroke... 2.0 bar boost?? that will reallly be something...

Hmmm, why go to 86mm? You won't gain much when it comes to engine volume by 1,0mm would you? If you then need to rebuild your engine for any reason you are out of over bores to use aren't you? And those pistons won't fit anyway as far as I understand from what people here has writen? Why not use the custom made 85,5mm EVO8 JE's from Buschur Racing?

Here is a pic comparing stock EVO6 piston and rod to the Eagle rod and JE piston bought from Buschur, not the best pic but you get an idea of the difference especially on the rod:
