Most quiet external inline fuel pump?

Is there a fuel pump similar to the walboro 255 (gs392) that is quieter? Mine is dying on my ams surge tank but it doesn't look like a 341 or a 342. I dont want to get a 400 because i'd need a fp regulator.... External pump of course.

the 416 is as quiet as stock. aftermarket fpr not needed. just need to adjust the low/full voltage xover table to have full voltage kick in at a higher fuel flow requirement. drilling the siphon would also be a good idea.

Mrfred, would the same apply to a 450? Not needing a fpr, just adjusting in the tune? Can I also assume that this is only for factory wiring (no re-wire kit for fp)?

Doesn't the 416 require you to "Dent" your fuel tank?

Not if the pump carrier and pump mods are done correctly.

The 416 and 450 are the same pump, at least if we are referring to the E85 version. Everyone should be running the E85 version. Its got much better flow rate than the gasoline version.

Bottom line is do not hardwire the 416/450. Setup up a pressure switch-activated direct power feed from the battery and splice (not cut) into the factory power at the plug to the pump. Splice into the ground wire as well and run an additional ground.

Wish someone had a detailed DIY thread on doing this with stock wiring.... This bigger pump wouldn't even need thicker gauge wiring?

^ I wish they would too. I dislike the though to splicing without seeing actual pictures.

Mrfred, are you saying just splice in a hobbs switch to the existing stock wiring, that way it runs stock wiring on low voltage, and when the hobbs kicks on it gets power from the battery as well as power from the oem wiring as well?

yup. The pump will run on stock wiring for OEM low voltage and for an intermediate time on OEM full voltage. When the Hobbs switch activates, it will supplement the OEM full voltage. Its like a three stage voltage system rather than a two stage system.

What I wrote was not the best explanation. I just rewrote it to fully explain how it works.
