Not really sure how that happened but all i know it cost alot to fix

Those are the spider gears that are broke

That doesn't look to bad, when I broke mine the whole spider gear assy, was powdered.

How much is it going to cost to repair? Or can it even be repaired?

You should send the metal to get it analyized to see if they meet specifications.

I take it that this is the center diff that transfers power to the rear? Was this done on a launch? If this is the center diff then people have broken all three now.

if you do a search...i had this problem. I am on my 3rd transfer case right now...and KNOCK on wood hopefully is should be alright according to the dealer. FYI...fixed under warranty with some modifications.

The spider gears in the transfer case are for the front diff. The center diff gears live in the transmission.

It actually looks to me as if the spider gears are simply too small. DSMs would grenade their center differentials in a similar manner. The way to fix it was to install a 4 spider gear center differential so that there were more spider gears to share the load.

Unfortunately, it appears that to do that on an Evo would require a whole new housing.

have you thought about getting the RS transfer case with the lsd front diff?

i broke 2 of them it was a loud noise.so i change them.the thing is the car can not bounce the front wheels on a hard lunch if it does there went the diff. my 2c
