OK here is the deal.... I put a 3" exhaust on my evo; it runs from the down pipe to the stock muffler all bolt on. No cat no baffle ECT. I got an o2 sim from Jeggs. I put it on using the DYI on the Perrin piece. And I am getting this code... any help? Please
PS I did a search no help.

Was the O2 sensor removed and then replaced into the new exhaust? It sounds like it got damaged when it was removed. Try removing it and CAREFULLY blowing the dirt off it, then replace it and re-seat the connector firmly.. If it doesnt clear the code, replace it.. Sometimes if the sensor is removed (especially if it didn't come out easy and you used a wrench and a hammer, or an impact gun, to get it to come loose) the heating element could ground out (short) or some gunk can short out the element. Typically that would throw a code because the coil no longer shows as a resistence (voltage drop) to the ECU
Hope this helps.

Yes the O2 sensor must be in to work properly.
If you do not have a cat than the reading on the O2 sensor will be off anyway and give you a CEL Anyway.
YOu can try to find an O2 simulator from one of the vendors to simluate a different voltage on the sensor which will cause you not to get this CEL.

I would try clearing the code and making another run at it. I have the Perrin Cat Delete Pipe but with the o2 Sim it comes with. Pulled a code at first but after i reset has never came back. According to the Datalogger everything looks good

Ive gotten it a couple of times. Im going to pull it back out and make sure that I didnt damage it or get gunk in it.
Ive had the "mechanical O2 fix" on the car for a while, and this code only showed up lately, after I removed the O2 sensor (for exhaust removal + reinstallation) and put it back in.
My code shows up after Ive been driving for a while.

You can tell if the sensor is bad by removing the 02 fix and putting in the OEM cat. If the code comes back, you sensor is knackered. Buy and install a new sensor.
If not, their is something most likely wrong with the o2 fix, either itself, or in the connections, most likely the signal wire. If your fix involved cutting wires, make sure and solder the connections.
This is the only way I know to diagnose the problem.
