PCV Valve Variations?

I am beyond confused. Is the PCV valve on an Evo 8 metal or plastic? Mine is plastic at the valve cover and routes to a 90 degree metal fitting on the intake manifold.

When I look up Evo 8 PCV valves, they all come up as metal fittings mounted on the valve cover. The Workshop Manual even states that the PCV valve is metal and mounts on the valve cover. So why is mine plastic and why does Mitsu make a grommet specifically labeled as a valve cover PCV grommet? Part# 1057A033

Its -30 outside so I just grabbed some pics from the internet.

Red circle is what I have. Second pic is what everyone else seems to have.

It kinda looks like they managed to stuff the fuel systems check valve into the spot where the pcv is. At least it looks like my fuel check valve. Idk how cuz I've got both parts in front of me and they aren't the same size but I guess the check valve is plastic and could be made to work.

That type of valve is usually found on jdm evo's. Metal ones are US versions.

are there any available press-in PCV valves that fit directly on a JDM model with an opening of a -10AN male fitting? I'm driving an evo 9 JDM and do not want to drill the valve cover.
