Need T4 Turbo recommendation...

I have an evo 8 with a 2.4LR, ported head, BR272 cams, T4 twinscroll turbo kit and all bolt ons etc. I am looking for a turbo to possibly replace my 6266 1.15 a/r turbo. Unfortunately, I only have 91oct around me (thinking about alcohol injection but not definite). I am considering the 6466, but wanted to see what turbo/s would you guys recommend that are available in T4 twinscroll (6766, 3586 etc) to make the most power on 91oct and possibly with alcohol injection as well (mainly 91oct for now). Appreciate the help.

Have you looked into the Borg Warner 9180?

Funny you say that, it was the original turbo I was going to go with before the 6266. I remember there was a guy in AZ running one with a full race twinscroll kit. Not sure how that turbo would spool/make power compared to the precision models and if it is dated technology. I know it is a large turbo but I think it would still fit since I have a cbrd slim radiator, although not sure if my current LICP or downpipe would have any issues fitting correctly.

The design of the EFR as a whole and the turbine wheel in particular will make the car feel a lot more lively on the street than really any comparable turbo. They make good power but most importantly don't feel nearly as sluggish off boost or in transient moments above the boost threshold. The only problem is these things are difficult/impossible to see in a dyno graph. But to drive one is really impressive!!

I would go with either a 6466, 6766 or look into the new Xona turbos. Both options will be awesome. The 67 mm turbos will make more power at lower boost but you will lose power band. I think a 2.4 with a 6466 is pretty badass.

I do not think the EFR turbos will work with your current twin scroll kit so unless you want to replace it they are off the table.

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. I really like the 9180 but I dont think it will work with my set up and the turbo might be too large and not spool well. The other issue is that I am at high elevation, so spool is definitely a factor. To give an idea, a 2.3 set up here spools like a 2.0 at sea level. I ended up purchasing a 6466 and hoping for the best after the retune.

The 6466 has been proven but if you want to try something a little different go with the 9180. I've seen good things from that turbo as well.

The EFR9180 will spool up quicker than the PTE6466 easily! A friend of mine has the 9180 on his car and makes 2 bar at 3500rpm
