So since I've put a 5 speed into my 9 MR, I've been having this issue. At first it was w.e but now it's starting to bother me since its beginning to look cheap. So normally with a 6 speed the leather for the shifter console is properly tucked under the reverse trigger. But with my 5 speed shifter in the 6 speed location the leather just hangs under the shift knob.


I was told there's a "grommet" that is sold that can hold the leather up to the shift knob so the shifter isn't so exposed and isnt hanging. I've attached an image for reference since its harder to put into words. I don't have my own pic so I've used one from someone else's post so hope you don't mind. Only difference is I don't have the stock mr shift knob. I have an ams delrin so it is exposed more than the one in the image.

 

the center console for the 6-speed and 5-speed are different as well

i'd find a 5-speed center console if it bothers you that much

 

Or, just add more Velcro where the factory strip ends? I hate to say this, but I've even seen a black cable tie being used...

 

Buy a new shift boot that's made for the 5-speed to replace the crap stock one that's made for the 6-speed?
