Use caution when attempting to use glue or a mechanical kluge of some kind. A leak tight "juryrigged" connection may not withstand an accident. You are fooling with volatile fuel and I recommend you park it until you get an OEM part.

However, the fact that he broke it so easily makes me believe that a tougher brass joint can be made. A solid brass joint held on by bolts and some JB weld will be quite strong.
Still, I'm not saying that is a sure fire way, just a suggestion.
