crappy stock intercooler piping

crappy stock intercooler piping

well now that i have gotten my boost controller ,i have been havin this problem with the stock tube falling off when in boost. it is really anyoing. does anyone else have this problem.

holy **** what boost you runnin?!?!? maybe you need new straps? or did oil get around the flange that gos in the flex pipe? hmm get some T straps or buy new piping, lol

T-bolt clamps

T-bolt clamps will solve your problems

it has the factory clamps that came with the car. and im boostin 20. so no one else had this problem.? it might be time for some of davids intercooler piping eh?

Others have the problem. One of the guys here in town had the upper pipe right before the intake manifold blow off once or twice a few weekends ago at the track. And I think another Evo at the track was saying he had similar problems on his car too.

what the hell is a t-bolt. and that is some crapy engineering on mitsus part.

im running 20 right now and im not having this prob check the fittings round the piping if not just upgrade to bigger piping

Use a 10mm socket to tighten it. Screwdrivers are not good enough. Use the socket and ratchen it down as tight as you can without cross threading it. I have taken apart my hoses and put them back together a number of times now, and I've never had a problem.

I am running about 20psi sometimes 21 no problem here.

Any chance you overtightened the clamp? If you overtightened the clamp (until it popped) you will need a new one.

You just need a better clamp
The clamps are not
Replace with T-bolt clamps ( like $2 at NAPA)
