Turbo to manifold studs - Material?
I hate rust. Everything is coated... I have ARP's manifold to head kit, etc.
The last issue is the studs for the manifold to turbo.
I have a local machine shop that can make them for me out of 310, or 316 SS. This will include matching washers and nuts.
Question is -- will those studs be strong enough and if so, what torque should I tighten them too?

A common problem with eary DSM vehicles was the exhaust studs breaking. Anyway, the maker fixed this problem. But, it shows that the studs are often under a lot of strain with the heating and cooling of the manifold. I'd be careful with what material I used.

not sure if this helps, but i replaced the OEM bolts with some fancy super-tough, grade 8 ones.. and they seized. i broke both of them off inside and had to drill them out.
definitely be careful what material is used.
next time i'm gonna stud them.
