Daily Driver Cams
Hey guys I am in the market (possibly) for some cams for my daily driver 8.I don't want to loose low end and or drive ability and ease of AC use, Currently has the following mods.
Rebuilt STD Bore STD Rod 2.0 Manley Pistons and rods ( 9:1:1 )
Supertech STD nitrided Valves
GSC Beehives with Ti retainers
Stock Intake Manifold,TB and exhaust manifold.
Buschur Exhaust
Test pipe
Megan 02 Housing
Megan downpipe
Top Line Lifters
AMS Old school Intercooler
AMS lower IC pipe
STM Short Route Upper (2.5") Forge Diverter
Perrin Intake (MAF)
Rebuilt 9 Turbo
Aeromotive Fuel Rail and STM Regulator Kit
STM Walbro 450 Pump setup (stock lines)
I will eventually be swapping to speed density and using a Tial BOV, Larger intake pipe etc once I upgrade the Turbo, Looking into a JB FP red with the stainless housing and 84mm cover. Just gonna get a few Miles on it first since I just dumped a huge chunk on overbuilding the engine since stock rods scare me lol. I have a set of HKS 272's but I am getting mixed reviews on using them. I really only want 430-450whp I know I am a bit over modded already to achieve that. I just worry about a huge set of cams being stressful on valvetrain etc since i plan to clear weather daily and road trip in this car with my wife and son sometimes.
Thanks In Advance
BJ

The HKS's would be fine. Or GSC S1's or S2's. S2's being quite aggressive with a lopey idle.
What kind of fuel will you be using?

You should be fine with FIC Hi-Z 1100cc on 93. If you want to realize the full potential of the red on E85, you'll want to step the injectors up to the FIC 1650 Hi-Z.

Awesome I may get the 1650 "just in case" you know lol, do you see any issue with a JB red over a DBB? I see your setup is close to exactly what i want. I have read countless threads on FP and oiling issues etc

The JB FP Red is fine, but requires particular oils to ensure longevity from its thrust bearing. The DBB unit isn't so particular.
There is no reason to use larger than a 1250 cc/min injector for anything up to 600whp. This also assumes you have the STM upgraded wiring kit for the pump (and you should).
If your HKS 272s are more than a couple of years old (older design), you're better off with a set of GSC S2s, which represent a good balance of power and driveability.

I have been looking at S2's but i drive my buddys 8 sometimes with s2's and it has no low end power, could be the tune however. Needs fair amount of revs to get it moving

It's impossible to comment without knowing the details of that setup. For the sake of perspective however, if you're considering an FP Red, it's because you're willing to give up some low end power in favor of more power upstairs, but lag hasn't been a complaint amongst owners of S2s here.

i run kelfords and i have gains throughout the powerband compared to stockers. with the stocker 8 turbo it still hits pretty hard down low. kelfords are great for dd imo.

I don't understand why you would be worried about low end torque when your planning on going FP Red turbo. This turbo is essentially a 35R. As far as injectors, the FIC Hi Z 1100's are overpriced. I had standard FIC 1050's on stock turbo and S2's and didn't lose any low end with completely stock motor.
