Oil pressure drops in 2nd gear WOT, but not in 3rd
Like the title says. My oil pressure will drop on a 2nd gear WOT pull at around 6800 rpms. Oil pressure will go from the low 90s to 60s to mid 50s then my oil pressure kill switch will activate. No issues at all on a 3rd gear pull though. Here are a few details on the motor.
2.0l long rod motor
boostin performance race balance shaft eliminator
kiggly hla
aem ems v2
oil cooler delete plugs from buschur racing
buschur racing baffled oil pan
Valvoline vr-1 synthetic oil. Oil level is at highest notch on dip stick tube.
Any ideas on what could be the problem?
Thanks

Good bet your forcing all of the oil to the back of the pan, exposing the pickup. Try over filling by a half quart. Or lower the threshold for the oil pressure fail safe.

Would a modified oil pan be the true solution for this problem if that is in fact what's happening here?

Oh and I don't think it's a good idea to lower my oil pressure failsafe threshold considering that in my third gear pulls my oil pressure stays consistent in the low 90s. I don't think oil pressure should be below 60 at wide open throttle.

Is this pretty common? What power levels would you suspect that it would begin to be an issue. I'm building my motoe soon and seriously considering going with a turbo like the 6266 and trying the big turbo thing for a while.

The buschur pan really isn't much, it just more closely baffles the pick up. If you don't want to lower the threshold, consider an AMS/Moroso pan...
