Auto Meter Wideband O2 bung install location verification

Hey all,

Quick question regarding the Autometer Wideband O2 sensor installation location.

I am currently finishing the installation of an Autometer Wideband O2 sensor and gauge (ATM-4378) and want to verify the correct installation location of the exhaust bung before I have it welded in place.

The write-up that I am referencing is as follows:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/evo-how-requests-questions-tips/381874-wideband-o2-sensor-install.html

Please let me know if I am correct, the Wideband O2 sensor get placed in the Front exhaust pipe, at the end right before the catalytic converter, at an angle above horizontal. Is this right?

Thanks for the help!

Placement right before the cat is right. The angle not 100% sure on and it's been years since I've looked at mine under the car. I think the placement (before cat) is more important than the angle honestly.

OEM Exhaust metal type?

Hey everyone,

Quick question I was hoping you all could help me with.

Next week I will be taking in my OEM Front exhaust pipe to have a bung welded in for the Auto Meter Wideband O2 sensor that I will be installing.

My question is, does anyone know what type of metal the OEM exhaust pipe is made out of? I know it's stainless steel, but does anyone know the number? (T?)

I would like to let my welder know what type it is before taking it in to ensure that he has the correct welding rods on hand.

Cheers!

the aem install instructions say "at least 10deg above horizontal"... so i dont see why your angle would not work.

looks good to me.
