2.4lr Boost creep issue need advice

Setup is a 2.4lr, ets t3 manifold w/mvr wg and 6266 turbo. Tom from Tscomp has been helping me with the tune and we have the wgdc at 0 (was targetting 19-21psi) so it's running off wg spring. 18psi combo hit 36psi and 11 psi hits 28psi. Both setups seem to hold boost fine until after 6-6500rpms and it ramps right up. I am thinking of trying an 8psi combo but I feel it shouldn't have to be that light of a spring to not creep. I guess I'm looking for some advice at this point.

Do I run a second WG?
Is the ETS manifold the issue?
Is this common with 2.4s with ported heads?

Thanks

I am thinking the ebcs may be faulty and will remove it from the equation tomorrow. I will put the lower spring setup back in and see if the WG itself is flowing enough air on its own.

Why are you trying to run such little boost on a big turbo set up like that?

I told you to post in here hoping someone would help, but i guess ill be the one helping.

1. no
2. no
3. no

--------------

Run the lowest pressure spring that creeps the least amount and ill take care of the rest from there.

Once I introduce a load to the gate it will stop creeping.

Id like to see around no more then 20psi creeping uptop as a baseline to start with.

I think the spring chart you're using is not accurate either, so just work with real world results not paper in this case.

Its baseline pressure for the external gate. Its best to keep that low, (high teen's / low 20's) especially with a knock prone fuel like 93oct, which OP is running.

Also 2.4's work turbos much harder then 2.0's so what might look like low boost is really not for a larger displacement engine.

30psi at high rpm in a 2.4 is like 35-36psi in a 2.0 as far as airflow goes.

Is it a single or dual gate manifold?

Put 10 psi combo and it hit 25 at redline. I had limited time last night so after work I'm trying the 8psi to see if it lowers it another 3psi. If not I will swap a new one on from my buddy and see if maybe the WG itself is the culprit.

if it's a true boost creep, it should hit the same peak boost number no matter what you change the lower psi to. i had this issue on an FP red BB. i had to port out the WG port on the turbine housing to fix the issue.

If the manifold only has a single wastegate, this is why the new ETS manifolds have dual wastegates...

All the ETS kits we ever dealt with single scroll (one wastegate) never had boost creeping issues, and were 44mm wastegates.

Right now your rom has no boost pressure increase from the 3 port. If I add some pressure increase at low RPM your creep may possibly go away.

Id recommend adding a boost cut first before we go any further to avoid boosting past a specific threshold. Just email me the most recent logs so i can check the load and adjust the cut based on load averages from your car.

Crappy weather today. I'll get a clean log after work tomorrow for you. This was with the 3 port vaccum lines disconnected so strictly gate pressure with vaccum from compressor to side port. I'll swap it back prior to the logging.

Thanks.

Emailed the log today. I also found the cam specs for my cams and it may be useful to you. they have a pretty high duration @1mm for a 272....looks to be higher than S3.
