Oil Pump Cover

I pulled the oil pump cover off today, the one that covers the actual oil pump gears. I noticed some scratches on the mating surface of the cover where it would be over the gears. Is this normal?

Post pics, but yes, some radial wear markings are normal.

It should be noted that the old one above was on a vehicle that spun a bearing. So i ordered a new oil pump and the philips head screw got stripped and long story short, the new housing is unusable. Do you think it is ok to reuse this housing with the rest of the new stuff?

That housing doesn't look great. Even looks like some material got embedded into it. I would replace it if the motor ate a rod bearing. Along with the oil cooler and lines..

Got a new oil cooler, shoot i actually have everything new. It was catastrophic. Brand new block, crank. head everything.

Its nothing embedded thats just dirt from where it got placed. But thats what i figured. I have the other new one but the hole for the philips head is like twice as big as it was and i dont think that would be fixable

Well, the housing usually has radial marks/polishing, but if you can feel the lines/grooves with your finger nail, I would say to replace it. Either make the new housing you have work, or get another new housing.

Damn. That sucks. That definitely shouldn't have happened. Those Phillips screws are soft and easy to drill just enough to where the head just pops off.
