How to waste 2500 hard earned dollars.

Hi guys. Just got through upgrading my engine to handle the power of my new turbo! So excited as I have been saving/planning for close to a year. Decided to assemble the engine myself as I had rebuilt two mustang engines during high school. Bought rods, pistons, bearings, gaskets the whole nine....everything went super smooth. I start the car and it idles great! Woo hoo! Push clutch in and hear a high pitched squeal, something like a throw out bearing. Start diagnosing noise and notice when I push clutch in, the crank moves! Pull pan to discover that somehow one of my thrust bearings is laying in my oil pan...bad news. I have no idea how it happened. Assembly was butter smooth. I'm at such a loss. The block and crank are destroyed. All machine work worth nothing. I believe the new pistons and rods are still fine. If anyone has a block and/or crank for evo 9 please let me know.

TLDR: destroyed new motor. Looking for cheap donor block/crank for evo 9.

Damn, I know the feeling. I had a freshly built motor suck in a throttle body screw. That's a pain that doesn't go away for a while. Good luck.

I have an evo 8 crank I can sell you. Is $250 a fair price?

Thank you so much indeedboostman! If I can get a 9 block I could possibly be back in the game soon!

Reading stories like this is probably the reason I will pay a reputable shop to build my engine when that time comes. I think it would be fun, and probably a cost savings, to build it myself, but then stories like this come along and I think nope... Sorry to hear Pope, hope it works out for you. Where in the Carolinas are you at?

Still looking for a usable block. I'm willing to drive to pick it up or pay for shipping. I'd also like to thank indeedboostman for the crank! Thank you sir. Does anyone have a block? Please help.

Troll the FS section and also try out Ebay. It will be a much quicker response than here.
