EVO V rebuild or go OEM?

Haven't taken the head off to inspect but the engine knocks pretty bad.

Have 2 options

Option 1
Find a OEM low km block and get a tune. Price 1200-3000$

Option 2
Get a full rebuild
MAP has some good prices on stroker kits and other rebuild stuff
But the issue is there is a million of options(g35 was my previous car and we didn't have 25℅ of parts that a evo has available when it comes to aftermarket stuff)

The goal is reliability, 350whp,the car is some what my DD,no autocross or track for this car.

Please point me the right direction.

Rebuilt is more likely to present 0 issues
Then trying to guess how can 10-15? Year old motor have low km?
It's not realistic so why try finding the impossible.

Use your bottom for core.

How hard is to build one of there engines.
I got access to everything needed.
Never rebuilt a bottom end, only can install on the g35.

Let your wallet decide. A low mileage JDM engine is much cheaper than a rebuilt. But if you want reliable high hp, and can afford it, then a quality rebuild is better.

P.S. Do not try to build the engine yourself unless you are sure you know what you are doing. There are shops that specialize in this for a reason.

John at Rocky Mountain Imports could source you a JDM engine http://www.rockymountainimports.net/

I would recommend English Racing (which is within driving distance of Vancouver, BC) for the rebuild. https://englishracing.net/

Maybe ship your block to Magnus and have them rebuilt it. They are the only Canadian shop I would trust for a 4G63 build. http://magnusmotorsports.com/

If I were you, I would look for an Evo 7 front clip. Swap the engine into your 5, and then sell the bumper/hood/fenders/old block. Or get a USDM Evo 9 engine/ecu/harness and swap in the Mivec engine. You could likely find one from a salvage yard in Washington state.
