I hear ya man, it's gonna end up being something really stupid after all this hunting.

The MAF is plugged in haha, I even change it out for another one just to make sure... and that one is plugged in as well lol.

I assumed the spark plug wires were all okay since the plug tips all looked good when I pulled them, none where wet or showed signs of not firing. Does a dead cylinder usually throw a code? Will check the packs and wires again

Interesting, I hadn't looked there cause there was no CEL. did your throw a code when your EGR was sticking? I'll check it and see thanks

You should purposely actuate the egr solenoid and see if you can induce the problem when it is cold

My CEL never came on, and my car had that issue for about 4 days straight.

From the graaaavveeeee...

Replaced the EGR, cat, injectors, spark plugs, coils. None of which helped. What the sh*t...

my VIII that I just picked up 132k does this same thing.

a lot to check and sounds like a chore to fix this...

Turns out it was a rotted vac line going to the EGR valve..... go figure it was something small causing big problems.
