Help With Stripped Turbo Exhaust Inlet Hole
Hey guys,
So after trying to swap my cracked exhaust manifold for my OEM unit, I accidently stripped one of the bolts/bolt-holes on the exhaust inlet of the turbo (where the manifold meets the turbo). I have a couple ideas of how to remedy the situation, and I was hoping to get some feedback.
1) Re-thread the bolt hole with a thread tapping tool
2) Find a slightly narrower/longer bolt, and put nut on the other side and completely avoid using the hole's threads.
The car is on a stock 8 turbo with a 10.5 hotside. My goal here is to avoid completely replacing the turbo or any of it's major components. I have put some pictures of the actual situation to highlight the issues.
One other thing is that SOMEHOW one of the studs that are not supposed to some out of the turbo housing came out. I don't know if I should replace the stud with a normal bolt, or attempt to re-thread the stud back in.
YELLOW= Stripped hole
RED= Where the stud came from
Please give me some feedback or advice on what the best options are! Thanks!

For the hole circled in yellow, if the threads are beyond repair, your listed option to use a nut and bolt will work. I've heard of people going that route. Bonus with this is you never have to worry about stripping threads again. As for the red circle, you could just reuse the stud that came out without having to remove the nut. It will tighten like before. If not then you could put 2 nuts on the opposite end of the stud, tighten them against each other, and then remove the stuck nut. Don't forget to soak it in PB blaster before attempting.

As it turns out, re-tapping the hole worked perfectly! I also was able to re-thread the bolts, a huge score considering that the bolts are around $12-15 a piece! A big-ol metric tap and die set at Harbor Freight was like $16, definitely cheaper than buying a new hotside. lol Thanks for all the input!
