B&B cat-back to Greddy Ti cat-back
Sup,
Well as some of you know I sold my B&B cat-back to a great person on this board. I sold it cuz I needed some money for a clutch and a friend of my gave me his greddy ti for a great price so I couldn't pass (I still need a freaking clutch).
Anyway first I'm starting with a review of the Greddy Ti. I gotta say this thing was light. I could hold the mid pipe up with just my pinky finger and the entire exhaust up with 1 hand, it was that freaking LIGHT (9lbs or so). The piping was 80mm and tapered to 76mm at the cat (3.1 inchs to 3 inchs). I'm currently running a B&B DP and UR cat and the exhaust bolted up without a problem (fitment was perfect). With the exhaust in I started her up and I was greeted with a nice exhaust note. Kinda like a light cam at idle, brap bum bum bum bum etc... (very deep) Cruising around town the exhaust is noticable but not too loud. At WOT the exhaust exhibits a nice racey sound. At 60 it sounds as if it resonated cuz its pretty quite (perfect exhaust note), at 80 things get abit louder (when you let off the gas its kinda loud), at 100 its alittle less loud (don't know why), and anything above 100 is kinda hard to hear because of engine and turbo sounds. At no time did me or my girl say its TOO loud but its border line at 80 (atleast for me). The exhaust comes with a silencer too (which I'll be using for any trip over an hour at 80).
Now for the power review. My B&B produced very good power across the board (310whp flashed). With this new exhaust I feel like I'm losing alittle torque arcoss the board (even up top). It doesn't seem to pull as hard but this could be because of the larger piping. I do go through the gears fast and I had to turn my boost down but I did install an I/C with the exhaust which could have attributed to the boost spike and faster revving. I mean don't get me wrong my car still rips but I think I'm attributing some of the sensation to sound rather than actual speed. Top end seems to be alittle less but I'm also being told I'm spitting alot of black smoke when I'm getting on it. I think I'm running rich after I install my I/C and this Exhaust (I need more tunning). I really think the greddy will benifit me when I get to around 400 or soo WHP because of the straight through design of the muffler and larger piping. I'm going to the dyno as soon as I get some cams so I will tell you the results.
Review:
B&B Cat-back - 8.5 out of 10 (muffler could be straight through and whole system could have been lighter but sounds great and stealthy)
Greddy Ti - 9 out of 10 (Weight, sound, construction, looks PERFECT but I don't like the fact that I could have lost power)
For anyone who thinks the Ti is too loud, trust me its really not bad at all (and I HATE loud exhaust). Oh and I'm developing alittle brown stain on my bumper due to the greddy being under the bumper (also its at a slight angle I'll take pics soon). I didn't get any marks with the B&B.

good write up man. i have seen pics of that greddy ti and it looks like one bad piece. i have AMS turboback w/ no cat and my girl says it IS too loud. its a bit loud but not horrible, i hate loud exhaust too. at WOT through watch out, it sounds like hell is falling from the back of your car. also a very deep sound. last weekend at AMS during al's tuning sessions i ripped out of their parking lot, its between two buildings, so it had a nice echo. when i got back al goes "holy ****, that sounded soo cool i want you to hear it". he jumps in my car and takes off through the lot sounded really tight and deep. anyway enjoy the exhaust.
also w/ AMS turboback i have no brown soot on bumper even with no cat cause the AMS muffler sticks just a bit out from under there.

Hooptie157: Are you sure of the piping diameter at the cat connection? You said in the original post above
"The piping was 80mm and tapered to 76mm at the cat (3.1 inchs to 3 inchs)."
I was told by one of the vendors that it went down quite a bit smaller than that. Did you measure the outside diameter with calipers? How about the inside diameter?
I have the B&B Catback now. The B&B with the testpipe was a little loud for my tastes at 75 mph. Is the Greddy a lot louder than the B&B was at this speed?
Thanks,
Brian

The B&B exhaust is the bomb. I have it and love it. It sounds incredible, yet its plenty quiet when tooling around. The car does not sound like a DSM either. That was straight from my friends and a bunch of DSM guys after a little encounter one night The butt dyno noticed very significant gains.
As far as the straight through stuff, a guy w/ a B&B exhaust trapped 118.7 with the stock turbo. I think it'll move plenty of air for me.
