Well shop got everything installed. He thinks the turbo seal went bad because he noticed some smoke and then also found some oil residue in the hot side. So going to have that sent out and inspected I suppose.

Turbo is probably fine unless it has excess shaft play. What do you have for crankcase ventilation? And how much oil pressure is the turbo getting?

right now I just have my vent port going to a closed vented catch can. However with my new intake manifold (doesn’t utilize the backside pcv valve). I can run a 10an line from that port to the bottom port in my catch can.

And I just realized I posted this in the wrong thread. Can mods move the last few posts to my other “bought a used shortblock” thread?

if possible

Not sure it matter which thread.

Anyways, you really need two 10an lines off the valvecover going to a VTA catchcan at your power level. And then if that's not enough, I would recommend the turbosmart turbo oil pressure regulator, it ensures the turbo gets no more than 40psi of oil pressure, which even when feeding from the cylinder head our engines tend to exceed that.

Would the oil pressure regular be of use even if your turbo has a built in restrictor?

4an isn't a Restrictor, that's 1/4".

And yes, the pressure regulator is useful. Abacus did a write up explaining it.
