Is it safe to run 24psi with stock turbo?

It seems like 21 psi is the limit most Evo owners are running. This is because the injectors are maxed out right?

I'm planning on getting the following mods:
full turboback exhaust with high flow cats
mbc
dyno tuned flash
Walbro pump
680cc injectors

Would I be able to run higher boost or is it even worth it? Thanks in advance guys. I'm an Audi guy who spent the last 4 years on audiworld. Sold my stage II allroad and stage III S4. Tuning is a lot simpler on the Audi. Just go to the nearest Giac/Apr dealer with a bucket full of cash.

As soon as the engine is broken-in (I'm at 300 miles now), I'll be starting with the mods.

Stock turbo can handle even higher boost, but your head gasket and head studs might not. You'll also need to upgrade the fuel pump as well. I'm not sure how much stock injectors can handle.

Nice.

I've talked to a few people that push 22-23 PSI and they've had no problems and with the proper 93 octane tune, their Evos don't knock.

I think people just stay conservative because no one wants to be the first to 'pop' their motor from overboosting.

I see about 22 psi on 92 octane and 24 psi on 100 octane.

EDIT: Those values are mid RPM spikes. I am about 18-20 psi at redline on the 92 & 100 octane.

expect your headgasket to blow at long sustained pulls at 4rth and 5th gear running that boost

I can spike at 24psi, but i can never hold that to redline. Nice thing about an EBC or just using the oem ebc, is you can set your gain in such a way that you can control both the spiked boost and the final redlined boost. IE - 24psi spike, 20psi by redline.

Its safe to run that kind of boost in the midrange, but not close to redline. Youll be pushing a ton of hot, knock-inducing air into your motor.

i know a few people on 22-23 psi. All of them upgraded the items previously mentioned and run higher octane gas. No problems at all, the stock turbo is a monster. Have fun!

God help you if you're making long sustained 5th gear pulls at WOT.

With enought fuel and timing you are ok at 24psi

Just don't expect the headgasket to hold

I'm running around 24 psi on spike in cool weather then falling down to 21 psi at redline, with my AEM EMS. No problems. And the factory injectors are not maxed out , running at about 65 % duty cycle.

mate if your engine is built right then the stock turbo can run 2.0bar plus (that peak). there are some in the uk that are running them at 2.3bar in the mid range!!!!
