Yeah, yeah it's another bloody cam thread..
Okay, after reaseaching cams and emissions on this forum (and on the web) i've come accross the following observations:
1. Aftermarket cams will NOT pass smog.
2. Nobody has tried to pass smog with cam gears and stock cams.
3. There have been some suggestions for aftermarket cams to pass, 0 on intake and -5 on exhaust....
4. As long as it's tuned right, larger injectors/fuel pump doesn't have as much effect on emissions as aftermarke cams do.
Which brings me to the following questions:
1. Has anybody got any aftermarket cams to pass smog (and if so, what cams/camgear settings/tuning... etc)
2. With aggressive settings on camgears and stock cams, will it pass smog?
3. For you people in California or similar states that have smog tests, how (have you/are you) going to pass smog? Replace back to stock cams, use cam gears to fiddle with it.. slip the guy something under the table
4. Regarding aftermarket Cat's, how do you get it to pass the visual?
Help is graciously appreciated, because i'm not exactly thrilled about doing mods and having to return everything back to stock every time i want to smog it.

Here is CT, we dont have to worry about SMOG testing. With the new emissions program all 99' cars and above just get connected to a OBDII code reader. During startup your car go through a diagnostic to check for failing emissions. NO SES = Pass Sticker.
Maybe some peps from NY can chime in.

While that would be nice and all, in Southern California that doesn't fly...
Anybody who lives in a state where you have to subject yourself to a Tailpipe emission test care to reply

I live in southern california, and if what one of my mechanic's friend says is correct, the new law passed recently for smogging ODBIIs says that for a new vehicle, 1st smog check is in 6 years....that's longer than I plan to keep the car. I hope this is true, else I would be scrambling to find magic smog in 4 years as well.
