Hot oil temps - Evo 8

Hot oil temps - Evo 8
Hi,
I have an issue where my oil temps are getting quite high (110 c / 230 f). I'm hitting these temps even while cruising on the highway at 80 - 90 mph. Water temps are perfect, couldn't be better.
I recently had a compression test done & all 4 cyl are pretty good & no signs of worn rings.
So what could be causing the oil to get hot & water to stay cool?
Any help is gladly appreciated
kisses & hugs

How are you measuring the temp?
Verifying your measuring device might be worthwhile to ensure the readings you are getting are accurate
As an example, im running the Mitsu oil temp gauge in my RS & it has been sticking & has stopped working

I'm using the dual function innovate MTX-L Oil pressure and oil temp gauge. The sensors are located on a sandwich plate between the oil filter & housing.
The car came with the stock mr gauges (oil temp, volt & boost) but the oil temp was not working.. Starting to think that was on purpose to hide some issues

Yes i know it's not 100%, but still 230 degrees from normal cruising
So this is inaccurate as well? https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...e-senders.html
The car has an oil cooler, yes.
Thank you for the reply!

I get near those temps driving in the interstate when going above 80 for a while. My oil temp sensor is in the oil filter housing. I dont think I've ever gotten over 240 and that was from autocross that had me at top of 2nd for a good chunk of the course.

230 really isn't bad at all man. You want it to get to at least 220 anyway to evaporate any condensation that's in the oil. You should be worried if you see it approaching 250-260.
Keep in mind ambient temperature will play a large role in that as well. During the summer when it's 70F I'm usually in the 220-230 just cruising around. When it gets down to the 30-40F range I struggle to get oil temps above 190-200 on the street.

My oil normally runs around 90c (194f) on my 11 mile drive to work. If I make a few pulls it goes to 105c (221f) and stays there. Even on the 8 hours of straight driving at 80 mph I did a few weeks ago, never saw over 100c on the gauge.
I also agree with others. 230f is perfectly fine to run at.
