FP 71HTA price increase

I was browsing old threads checking to see what turbo I should upgrade to, and have come across the 71 in thread after thread. I also see that 2/3 years ago it was listed at like $750, but right now on FPS site it shows over 1000$. Is that the same turbo? Have there been any improvements or is it just thanks to its popularity that they were able to apply the evo tax to it? Are there other turbos in the range that are as good? (I know the green is comparable but the 71 seems to perform better).
I run E85 except in the winter, and have cams already but am looking to up the power a bit without going over 450.

Same turbo. Like with anything, costs go up year over year. Even the BB turbos are $200 more than when I bought mine in 2016.

Thanks for confirming. I had a notion that things would go DOWN in price this many years later haha. A guy can dream.

Costs of running a business and raw materials/parts almost always increase, as well as inflation. So unless a product sucks/isn't popular, price increases are much more the norm.

You can send in a god Evo9 turbo and have it upgraded to 71hta specs and freshly rebuilt for $650.

My 71hta is for sale. I ran with FP OFH feed, so it spins like new and is in great condition.

the HTA71 used to be THE bargain. Now it's not much cheaper than an FP Green, if I remember right. Still a great turbo, though. My definite favorite. @2006EvoIXer How much? I wouldn't mind having a spare.

That's pretty fair! I'd end up tossing the WGA, but having another turbine housing may not be a bad idea, either. Let me think it over. I have a feeling someone will swoop on it sooner, though.

That might have been the case without the exhaust housing... that is the most expensive part..

It still doesn't come with a hot side. It's a complete CHRA with the compressor cover only.
