Support with aftermarket o2 housing.

For those running o2 dumps or aftermarket housings, how are you supporting the weight of turbo and exh mani?

I upgraded to an fp red and looked into dumps, and o2 housings. None have provisions to support the weight of setup like the stock o2 housing.

If they were heavy enough whoevers manifold should have braces built on them to support the weight. If you have a stock mani and went to a dump tube setup then theres nothing to worry about.

Thanks, I am on stock mani but fp red. The weight of the red is more....and even the stock turbo without the support from o2 housing to block is significant. Enough to believe supporting the weight of mani/turbo/downpipe would be too much for exh studs. I've seen stock manifolds crack on the track. Seeing that aftermarket turbos were hung without any support leads me to believe why manifords cracked.

I definitely do not baby my car so....looking for options other than stock o2 housing.

This is a non problem. You remove a large chunk of weight be upgrading the stock cast 02 housing, and the down pipe supports its own weight. If this was an issue it would have been exposed long ago. Personally I have put ~140k miles of daily driving with the stock 02 housing eliminated and have not experienced any issues in over 13 years without that support.

Ok thanks. Guess I will upgrade cast housing as well. If manifold cracks, guess it will be time for tubular mani

I have driven my evo on TME meth setup for over 120k. Decided it was time to modernize her. Maybe just paranoia on my part.

The turbo support bracket is simply not needed.
