Hitachi IGC0079 coils will come with a sticker on the top with the part number and I don't see any issues getting them from Rock Auto. You will need to modify the coils and have your tuner adjust the dwell settings to work properly on an Evo. We have an option on our site to have them modified when you order them. We sell replacement boots on our site here.

Yes I will order the boots also from you guys. To modify coils I think I need to stretch the springs if I am correct? I will also change dwell. I think I will go with rockauto then if you think they might be Real from them, and I will get wiring and boots from you guys. I have a nice plate that I will use. Is polished chrome.

I think spoolinup uses denso yaris coils, right?

Yup, the yaris ones have the straight connector off them. I stock up every time I hit the pick-n-pull lol. Never know when I'll have a bad one.

my coils went bad after about 8 years or so, just wound up replacing the whole cop in a bit of a time crunch. I should grab some spares too.

Its hard to beat $2-5 a coil at the local yard for me. I can hit a lot of bad ones and still come out ahead lol.

how do you know they went bad? I am having trust issues with my old (a wire to #4 broke and #3 has lower resistance) AND new COP kit (#4 seem weak or overheating)

mine was very apparent, misfiring quite a bit under load.

spark plugs didn't do it, swapped in a friend's coils and the car ran fine.

not sure about wires breaking and stuff like that though. what COP kit? #4 does see a bit more heat in general, right?

When I have had my coils go, I get a misfire pretty badly. Never throws a light but its noticeable and audible.

Finding the exact one that is failing is a bit of a struggle sometimes though lol.

(old) my #4 has a tight turn to the plug + IMO used the wrong type/brittle wire so that eventually broke
new kit I put together recently but it does not have a mounting plate, maybe thats important so I ordered a new one. Still waiting @JD Customs USA

my tuner had to replace 1 plug, and that plug is still super white after tuning and 1/2 autox. I just swapped 1 and 4 injector, coil and plug and will test tonight but I doubt I can replicate the heat level and serious misfire

if one's on the way out, it's probable the others are getting close to the end also. probably worth replacing all 4, for me my spoolinup cop was one of the originals, so it took quite a bit of time before it died. I think I mentioned 8 years but actually I think it's longer than that... maybe closer to 10-12 years. It was on my black 9 before I swapped cars, which is 2013 so..
