Another 4g64 timing questions.
Trying to time my 4g64 block and 4g63 head. Using a evo 9 timing belt
this is what I did,
not sure If this is the correct way to do it. Does everything look good?
this is what I did,
- set cams to zero on inner and outer ring
- set crank to notch
- set oil gear to dot(BS delete)
- put the timing belt on
- tensioned it
- cams are now off by 2 degreas
- i moved the inner cam back to the valve cover Timing marks
not sure If this is the correct way to do it. Does everything look good?

Yep, looks correct. It doesn’t matter what the outer mark points too, what matters is the what the “zero” lines up with. And both yours are pointing at the timing mark. The only thing that sticks out is how far you moved them. You’re at 2deg of correction and should be about 3.5 deg for a 2.4. Though that can all depend on factors like head decking, HG thickness, oil pump gear…
lining up with the valve cover definitely gets you in the ball park though.
