How is your engine doing?
Hey guys,
just wanted to see how everyone’s engine is holding up for curiosity sake. Mine is almost 140k miles, no rebuild yet or engine mods. Valve cover gasket had to be replaced recently for the first time. Car still pulls strong and my tuner agrees. Looking forward to many more miles! Evo 9

I bought a close to 100% stock evo 8 with 210,000 miles on it. Engine crankwalked. The car now currently has a brand new OEM shortblock with the a 210k mile (rebuilt) cylinder head attached.
My other evo 8 has a stock internal engine(except cams) with about 100,000 miles on it. Been pushing low 400 whp with that engine for a good 5K miles now. No current issues.

it amazes me how bulletproof these engines are when properly maintained, hear so many stories of people pushing past 150k miles sometimes 200k with near perfect to perfect compression!

not fantastic, not bad
been doing a compression check every couple months to monitor the #1 cyl, so far it hasn't changed since i bought the car back in April
1 - 127.5psi (158psi wet, oil cap test)
2 - 149 psi
3 - 152.5 psi
4 - 151 psi
after doing a leakdown test, cyl #1 looses about 15%, while the rest drop about 2-4%. everyone at RRE and KTM here in LA say I shouldn't be worried, and tell me to go out and beat on it. 85% of my driving now is city duties with the occasional on/off ramp slides and some pulls, but these comp numbers are always in the back of my mind. car is bone stock besides exhaust and some rear braces.

Hey guys I have a question and hope someone can help me out. So my evo 8 was running perfectly fine until a couple days ago. When I turn on the car it idles at 2k and doesn’t come back down when it’s warm. But when I try to drive it or move it back and fourth the idle jumps around from 1-5k rpms and then cuts out of power. I changed out the maf sensor, map sensor, iacv the pcv and put a new fuel pump in the car and still does the same thing. There’s no code on and no engine light on so I was wondering if anyone had this problem before or can try to help me out?

Bought my car with low compression in cylinder 3 @115k miles. I drove it that way for years, up to about 143k miles, and it gave me no problems. Finally replaced it with another OEM shortblock just because I knew they were getting harder to find. Pretty stout engines, IMO.

My 05 is sitting at 124k. Ive owned it since 2008 about 37k miles. Doesnt burn any oil or smoke. Havent done a compression check because it runs fantastic. Ive been running e70 exclusively for about 3 years now so i try to change the oil every 2k miles.

Mine wore out at only 72k, which was weird but I put it down to a hard track life from the original owner. Funny thing when I had it built and they put the same exhaust back on, the cat was clogged virtually not letting exhaust gas through. Could a clogged cat cause a motor to wear out that fast.
