Blown transfer case?

I was driving down the highway today, going around 60-70mph not driving hard at all still breaking in new shortblock.
I was cruising just fine, until I noticed my car felt a little luggey, then all of sudden I hear this supper loud whirring noise and the car starts to slow down crazy fast. I get over on the highway (literally still here waiting for a tow). I try to get it back on the road but no good.
Look underneath and transfer case is soaked in oil. Transmission looks dry.
I put in first gear and let off the clutch slighlty and start creep forward, but after 3-5 seconds of trying to go, I get a really loud scrapping/grinding noise so I stop.
any input is appreciated thanks.
Gonna drain check the fluid levels of both trans and transfer case when I get home, then drain and check the fluid. Not excited
is there anything I can do to check to see if it is the transfer case? Jack up the front see if the wheel move freely? Anything like that?
Forgot to mention
The clutch is grabbing fine.
When the car is on it goes in and out of gear totally fine.

remove tcase inspection cover and check main ring/oil for metal. Sounds like its your tcase. This happened to me years ago, just built my motor and was breaking it in. It turned out Ive been driving for some time with no tcase oil, forgot to fill it when putting everything back together. It gave out pretty fast after afew miles of driving. Loud werrring sound, then car slowed down for about a mile, then the drivetrain completely locked up. The tow truck was pulling the car onto the flatbed and the wheels weren't even rolling. When I got home to check the gears were all chewed up. the thing was toast.

the inspection plate is the black plate with 4 bolts and RTV gasket right? Kind of on top/side of the tcase?

tcase is shot.
I drained it and BLACK metallic oil shot out and it was barely even half a quart......
This gear oil only had 700 miles on it. Ooof

you can fill it the normal way... you just need to do it slowly and track how much you have in it.

now I know. Ive been working on Hondas my whole life (service tech at dealership) , and I've never experienced something like this. When it drips out the fill hole usually Means full haha, guess not for mitsu.

I use a 1" 14mm silicon hose (10mm OD) on the tip of my 90degree fitting. you can push it snug into the fill hole threads and overfill to your hearts desire
