I would doubt a more agressive clutch setup simply due to the fact that the MR driveline with the Front LSD and ACD is even more expensive to repair then ours. Remember, our clutch is considered the fail safe. Honestly though, I have close 15,000 miles on my car now with a good deal of "spirited" driving and absolutely no problems.

BTW Will, didn't you have a Yellow EVO I think we met at a meet in farmingdale by Jillians. Hows the STI?

i believe jdm evo use single plate clutch too, so probably no plans to upgrade US clutches (not really cost effective to install twin plate)

 

The Evo has had weak clutches well before the USDM 8. I can remember reading posts from UK and Japan owners a year ago that lamented the EVo VI,VII and VIII's clutch was toast after a few hard launches.

Not a USDM issue, but rather the entire product line?

Why do some Evo owners on this site believe that their car is so different and inferior to what is available elsewhere?

Evos that are repeatedly launched hard will fry the stock clutch .. its been like that since the first one in '92.

 

Anyone who frys a clutch in a few thousand miles is abusing the clutch, by poor driving. Stop whining and learn how F%&kin drive The new MR has a kleenex dispenser for all the cry babies who blow parts up because they think they are John Force.
