I used the Outlaw "sh.t" and it caused one of the cynliders to misfire due to a screwed up plug. Don't waste the money. Buy a aftermarket computer and map for race fuel.

I am in the middle of a water injection install. Once in, it should replicate 100 octane from 91 or 92 pump gas. a bit of a pickle getting everything installed without making a mess of it.

You can use both or either. doesnt matter. both are just hydrocarbons.

Hey, keep us posted. I'm interested in a water injection kit. What manufacturer did you go with and what are the problems with the install?

I'll post my experience with the WI install in another thread in the next few days.

Thanks Nothere.

I've read and followed accounts of Aquamist systems on Saab turbo's so I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Water injection is a proven way to protect against detonation, I've run it on my WRX for over a year now with good results. However don't use it to replicate the gains you would get from using proper fuel. There are race teams out there (mainly WRC) that do use water injection but it's to keep EGT temps down and is used a safeguard. WI != race gas.

I've used the Torco Accelerator stuff before and it works wonders, but it likely contains MMT or something similar. You can get a case (6 cans) of Torco for like $11/can. If you mix 32oz of that stuff into 10 gallons of 92/93 octane it raises it to somewhere around 104 octane. Half a can (16 oz) to 10 gal. will get you to around 99 octane.

Currently there is a place not too far away (about an hour) that sells 100 unl for around $2.70/gal so I just go down there with 5-6 gas cans and fill up every so often.

I've been using Torco Accelerator. But, I recently noticed that it does leave a pink dust on the spark plugs.

That would be MMT then. Long ago ferrocene, a similar compound containing iron, was used as a knock inhibitor. It worked but formed iron oxides (jeweler's rouge) during combustion -- manganese oxides aren't quite as abrasive, I think. There are "issues" concerning the effect of MMT on O2 sensors and catalytic converters (Mitsubishi doesn't approve, of course). You make the call!

nothere, any luck with your water injection set-up? I did a Aquamist set-up on my Talon AWD and it worked pretty well. I am going to pull it out of my Talon and install it on my EVO within the next couple of months. I'll post my results when I get it finished.

Toluene has worked great for me but I have since switched to just using 101 octane gas. I was mixing 2 gallons of Toluene with 12 gallons of gas. Very noticeable difference.

Thats an expensive way to drive... I put about 100 miles a day on my car so good ol' 92 octane from the pump is fine for me
