There's a review floating around from Option magazine in Japan that rated the Apexi filter as best.

Bracket

If i were you i'd put the bracket in, because not only does it hold the filter in place but it prevents the intercooler from "moving". I didnt have the bracket in and then my fan cut up the air hose and it lead to overheating. When i brought it in for service to get it repaired they said that the missing bracket that held the intercooler to the body of the car was the problem of this. They said if this happened again it'd not be covered by warranty! So be safe and put that back in. it's really easy, and it only took me 10 minutes. It'll save you a lot of trouble in the future.

Yeah that intake test has been floating around the internet for years. Here it is again for those of you who haven't seen it:

EvAsian, the Apex filter supplies an extra piece of metal bracket which hold your intercooler pipe in place so no worry about taking the stock bracket out.

I got mine install with a lil bit of patience, squeezing + smaller tools, takes time though, but possible. stock bracket remove + IC mount.

Apexi has much better filtering & dual funnel effect, quick throttle respond but its sure cut down a lill bit of boost to 1.1, becos of that extra air, unless some boost mod.

p/s: i put the air ram piece just to direct outside cold air around the filter, dont wanna get a lot of motor hotair sucked.

Just for clarification the review was on the Mega Flow filter with the porous wet green foam. The HKS RS kit comes with a newer improved yellow foam composite that is obviously not as porous as the green one - thus the more expensive price to go along with the fact that it is an entire kit that replaces the piping all the way to the turbo inlet. No stalling issues and all the fabricated parts are machined very well. They do not change the MAF housing which probably helps to prevent stalling issues like other intake kits.

from tests ive seen they make one of the best filters made as far as filtering qualitys and it was around the top as far as hp numbers. some guy tested them with a vacuum and u would be discusted to see how much a hks filter draws through = X

I have the IC bracket mounted to the body, but I couldnt get the install the brackets taht hold the filter up. I have the HKS RS suction pipe, and it cant flex so that the Power Intake can sit properly.

Who has an HKS RS intake pipe and a POWER INTAKE Filter and successfully installed the brackets???

Also I feel a quicker throttle response with the POWER INtake than the RS filter.

I have the Apex filter with the HKS induction pipe, all the mounting hardware should fit in perfect without problem, Make sure you have the L shape thing mount right on the filter.

But of course, this guy has every incentive to tell you that the RS doesn't filter poorly, b/c he sank 300 bucks into one himself.

First of all, I like how you refer to me in the third person. If you want to take a shot at me direct it at me instead of trying to do it as a backhanded slap - or avoid posting altogether. Weren't you taught that if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it all? You don't know me and I don't know you and I never made it personal - you did.

Second, I never said the HKS filter DOESN'T filter poorly, I am just saying that I have not seen the test for the yellow foam. If you are going to go out a limb and say that "it doesn't filter for crap" then be careful not to make gross generalizations because your statement makes it think that ALL of HKS filters are crap.

Third, the 300 bucks that you "claim" it costs is not in the filter but mostly in the rest of the piping which is pretty good. Plus, there are those that have replaced the HKS filter with an Apex'i filter so if I see proof of your claim regarding the yellow foam then I would do the same.

Fourth, I have no incentive but to report my results. There are a LOT of Evo owners that have the HKS RS filter and have reported no problems. I was just confirming the same thing with my experience. Why did you choose to attack me? Whatever the reason, next time I would appreciate if you could be a little more kinder in your posts instead of throwing out one-word bombs and then hiding behind your computer. Like I said, I don't know you so I apologize for my assumptions.
