Question knock?

hey guys, i was just wondering what exactly knock is? I have my S-AFCII tuned for it, but i guess there's not much point in seeing it if I don't know what it is...also, what are the safe and recommended levels of knock? Thanks alot

There are many discussions about this, do a search after you read this for more detailed information.

If your car is not very warm, meaning it has been running for 15 mins or so, then 25 to 70 is fairly normal. On a long trip, a hour or more then 100 to 190 might be a normal count. When the engine is very hot pre-ignition is more likely to happen. It also depends on what grade gas you have. Hopefully you will never get "real'' knock. Your car pulls timing before it gets out of control. The knock sensor tallys vibration, knock, ect. It is really guessitmating the vibration. It is there just to pull timing. I hope this helps.
