Why is my car destroying Coil Packs?

If I remember the information from way back with the Emanage, or any aftermarket ignition "driver" The damage isn't caused by the engine running, but how the coils arent "discharged" when the engine isn't running so it burns up the primary in the coil pack since their energized when the ignition is turned on, but the car isn't running.

If you make a habit of not turning the key on for long periods of time with the engine not running, its likely you wouldn't immediately burn up the coils.. If you find your doing alot of tuning and tweaking, you may end up turning on the ignition without starting the engine.. I think that is what is damaging the coil packs.

Another post talked about the output level and the switching voltage required for the ignitor to energize the packs, and the Emanage may produce output that is just above that switching threshold.

You can always swap to afermarket coilpacks and ignitors...
