I went through like 4 coil packs in the last week.Checked through the electrical system and everything seems to be fine.
I was told that it could be the emanage that I have. I recently put it in...thing is that when it went in...everything went fine for like 2weeks straight.then after that it started melting coils every other day.
I updated the software and everything on it.Could it still be the e-manage?
thinking about taking it out to see if it will still happen....but after paying $200 to have it installed...i would have to pay another $200 if I take it out and put it back.

could anyone give me any other ideas as to what it might be?

i have heard of emanages frying coil packs and the same for the aem ems. not sure what it is but i figured you would like to know you are not alone.

If in the end it turns out to be the Emanage..i'll have to get rid of it.

Put in an ignition map with all zeroes and see if that helps.

That sucks, had that problem twice in my VW before they recalled the coilpacks. Since nobody else seems to have this problem I think I would go on the assumption that E-manage is to blame.

i think so too.

If I were to just disconnect the ignition harness from the emanage......I was thinking of doin this since i dont really want to disconnect the entire thing.that would be last resort.

I was going to ask you if you had the ignition harness hooked up......you awnsered my question.....I am pretty sure that whats causing it. Just disconnect that. I had the same problem with my mazda...the ignition harness kept frying packs.

Check out AMS website, They say on there site that the ignition harness fries the coil packs and that they will not sell them for that reason. I'm sure thats what your problem is.

There was a boosted 6 out here, that was frying the coils. It was corrected by fitting a grounding kit. The Stock grounding is very poor, and the coils are sometimes overworked!!

I will check the grounding and perhaps purchase a grounding kit.

The factory grounding will more than likely be secure. Its the design thats inadequate.... leading to the coil having to work too hard to produce a spark, especially in higher than stock cylinder pressures.

You can make you own grounding kit out of 4ga AMP wire, consult the how-to section for fitting and building advice.

Emanage fry coil pack is well known. A little search at this forum, you find lot of threads about Emanage.

I haven't heard about EMS frying coil pack.

you see...it's all been trial and error so far because no one down here seems to know what it is.Everytime I think it is fixed it melts again and we try something else.now it's down to the emanage or as Jemm said..grounding.
If it's the emanage,then i definitely regret buying it.the amount of money i spent on coil packs alone..i could have bought a proper management system..
