Immobilizer
Didn't you encounter a problem with the immobilizer when you changed the ECU?

No wonder...all EVO7 here were for export from Japan and all came with the immobilizer. I don't think our local has the immobilizer code since all EVO7 were imported thru grey market. Our local don't even have ANY part for the EVO7 here.
Yup, the picture in that link you sent are exactly the same as ours here.

OH CRAP!!!!!
I hope no one looses any keys here or whats to get any extra keys made. I work for a dealer here and do the immobilizers for other cars, but not the lancer or outlander. We need to get the immo. code from another dealer so the US guys can get other keys made. Just in case something should happen.
Calling all EVO 7 owners---please help! We need the immobilizer code for the EVO 7.

i believe the immobilizer is..."emmobilized"... ha... One way fro em to know this for a fact... my ITR had one... i replaced the ecu to a OBD-I... then i lost my normal "chipped" keys.. used some copy keys that were jus for openign teh doors.... and boom the car turned on. I'm thinking... shouldnt thieves think bout this. Just put a dif ecu on a car and boom u dun ened the immobilizer.?? i dunno... i guess new idea not meant to be said out loud...

I will call GEMS in the morning and let you know. I would assume if it is in the ECU then it would be gone. I am getting an alarm for my car also.

Diagram as I can not get this picture to diplay here.
IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM from the Evo VI tech manual (I believe it is the same for the VII)
"
The immobilizer system is optionally available.
The immobilizer system consists of the ignition key,
the antenna, the immobilizer-ECU, and the engine-
ECU. The ignition key has a built-in transponder
as the oscillator. The antenna is installed on the
steering lock key cylinder. The system prevents the
engine from being started deviously to protect the
vehicle from theft. The operation is as follows.
1. When the ignition switch is turned on, immobilizer-
ECU supplies power to the transponder inside
the ignition key via the antenna.
2. The energized transponder outputs an ID code
to the immobilizer-ECU via the antenna.
3. The immobilizer-ECU compares the input ID
code with the registered ID code. If they are
the same, the immobilizer-ECU sends a starting
permission signal to the engine-ECU. If they
are not the same or if the ID code input cannot
be received, the immobilizer-ECU sends a starting
prohibition signal to the engine-ECU.
As mentioned above, only the ID code which
is specific to each ignition key permits the engine
to start. Therefore, the engine can never be
started by means of a forged key or by connecting
the ignition wiring directly. The system is
significantly safe and reliable against theft. In
addition, the driver has only to turn the ignition
switch to the ON position to activate the immobilizer
system. If the ignition key is lost or another
ignition key is added, the ID code can be registered
or erased by using the MUT-II
"
So although GEMS does not know about the system. It is not a requirement for rally cars by any means. It may work since the information I found describes it as an system external to the ECU. It all depenends on the starting permission signal. If it is just an eletrical signal than I think it may work. If it actually sending a code in some digital format than it will not work. I am sending this information to GEMS also.
Does anyone have the Evo VII ECU pin out?

If it is a replacement style ecu I think you will have problems. Why don't you call Haltech?
I know all the replacement ECU on the market have a new version for the VIIs.
