Flow rates

Here is a link for the flow rates. The Supra TT pump is the Denso 260:
Flow Rates

I have had a Supra TT pump in my Eclipse for about 2 years now with no problems at all. I'm not sure on the EVOs, but you need an adjustable FPR to set the correct base fuel pressure, so you don't run too rich at idle and cruise.

The Supra pump does not come remotely close to fitting in an Evo without a custom mounting solution

So there, want to share how you installed it?

The Denso 260 draws ~10 amps more/given fuel pressure at 14 volts than the Walbro. wow!

IIRC the PE pumps are rebadged Walbros.

Yes some Walbro's have issues at times, but it is miniscule in comparison to how many sold. We have sold close to 1000 over the years, and I can count on 1 hand how many we have had come back as bad in the last 3 or so years....food for thought.

The supra pump does require some modifications but they are minor. The shop that did the installation for me said it took them about an hour and half to do the install. The pump itself was purchased at a Toyota dealer for about $200. I decided to use the Supra pump over Walbro for flow issues not neccessary quality issues. I'm running 1000cc injectors with a 2.3 liter stroker plus an HKS 3240 turbo so I needed the extra flow. For most mods Walbro would be sufficient.

The Supra(Denso 195130-1020) and Walbro GSS341 are very similar in Flow.

The 3000GT guys like the Supra pump because it is a direct fit, its quiet and it flows enough to support over 500HP... but it needs higher voltages to do this. The Walbro pump costs 1/2 as much.

Jeff Lucius has an awesome fuel pump comparison.

http://www.stealth316.com/2-fuelpumpguide.htm

Below is flow comparison chart showing the flows at different voltages.
Please note the injector sizes listed are for 6 injectors not 4.

Jeff Lucius has an Awesome webpage. Its dedicated to 3000GT and Stealths but a lot of the information applies to any car

If a walbro is a direct replacement for the stock EVO fuel pump, then it should have the same external dimensions as the stock 2g DSM fuel pumps. I had a supra pump in my 98 GSX. It only required minor bending of the mounting bracket to make it fit. I was under the impression that there wasn't enough room in the EVO fuel tank to fit the larger body supra pump. Is this true?

Supra pump draws more amperage than the Walbro. 20+ compared to 12amps.
Evo fuel pump fuse is rated at 15 amps so it might pop the fuse you are using a Supra pump, you don't want to pop a fuse if your in a middle of a race would you?. If you choose to higher the fuse rating to 25 or 30 amps you'll run the risk of frying the harness since it fail safe's at 15.

Evo's use the Walbro GS342 ( not the GS341 ) which out flows the Supra pump in any fuel pressure given.
Supra pumps are well engineered. I have a Walbro in my Evo for almost a year with no problems. I have a dozen of DSM friends running Walbros for 7-8 yrs with no probs. I guess it's just a bad batch of pumps that were failing.

Witht he Supra pump on DSM's, everyone I know (including our own GVR4) has it hardwaired with a 30 amp relay for this exact reason

The Evo uses a unique sleeve design for the fuel pump assembly - I forget what a 2G DSM looks like, but I know its nothing like a 1G car. The supra pump is way too big to fit, and it is a very custom affair to get it to fit. Can it made made to fit? Sure...virtually anything can be made to fit if you invest the time. But a Supra pump is at least a 1.5-2 hour install, vs the Walbro which is about 10 minutes. if I were to bother putting the Supra one in, I would just go ahead and ge the big Denso 310 lph pump for even better flow, and call it a day.
