2nd Blown Motor Blown Clutch 3000 miles sucks
#33
Yep, I feel you man...check out my story...
I gotta long running thread at DCEvoClub Here about this which has now resulted in a local boycott thread...
Short story, my no. 3 rod bearing failed at about 14,500 miles. Local dealer replaced shortblock. about 1000 miles later and just two weeks out of the shop from the first replacement, my no. 4 rod bearing fails. Dealers says kiss off, Mistsu says kiss off...took it to arbitration...they say kiss off. Dealer pulled out a xerox copy of pics they took of my clutch (from the first repair) and said some hot spots on my clutch indicated over rev abuse and clutch slip. Arbitrator bought since I wasn't techical and I had the DM with his proclaimed 4 year auto engineering degree, the dealer ASE guy (lying on me mind you) and the service manager all stacked against. DM also lies to arbitrator and says he's never seen that on an evo.
Turns out another local dealer who reports to this same DM has a Evo on their lot that had a rod bearing failure and then a the turbo failed. They guy who owns was so upset that he dropped the car off (yes, he was fortunate enough to the the second repair because his dealer fought for him) at the dealer and said screw it. He doesn't want it and is going to allow it to get repossessed. I found all of this out after my arbitration.
Whatever the case, my Evo is 7 months old, I'm still paying on, has be inoperable for almost 3 months and my local dealer is tell customers that I modded my car and admitted I abused it.
My car is stock, I've never tracked or raced it. I know they are spreading lies because a couple of our local club guys were told that directly by the dealer when they inquired anonymously.
I'm looking to find someone who can give me a new motor at a reasonable price now. Any leads or ideas people, let me know. I did have a PM in to Big Al but I've not heard back from him yet on a parts and labor package in total.
Best of luck to you man...I can't afford a costly litigation right now (I've already consulted with my attorney). It will be cheaper for me to work on getting the car fixed.
Regards,
ThomBlaze

By the looks of the other vehicles you drive, repairing your engine to make it better than before will hardly be a drain on your pocketbook
Good luck,

Don't get me wrong. I agree that some of these issue is definitely the driver's fault but when it happens at low mileage and with different people it needs to be flag.

Wayne.......... that sucks about your second motor. Heres my take - Racetracks are bad places for street cars ( even though I love them and take my car to the track on a regular basis ). The stresses put on your car at the track are beyond what the car will ever see on the street. Im not saying that there was nothing wrong with the rebuild your dealer gave ya but at some point you have to cut your losses at the dealer and get a real motor. If my motor blows up (knock on wood) Id skip the dealer and go to a pro.
