What is the use of a high flow cat?

Anyway, that was a waste of time... but really I guess it depends on where you live! If you have to pass emissions and you give a **** about it, then high flow cat is your answer. For those of us who don;t have to worry about emissions testing, and don't give a ****, then a test-pipe or cat delete is the answer. What's to argue about. You're both right somewhere back there.
High Flow cats serve a purpose, albeit at a higher cost and less gain, but it definately has its place. Now if you still can't pass emissions with the new high flow then....??????

Post the one with the Evo chasing the guy.... dat is teh funny....
This has happened to some people. Isn't there an additive you can mix with the gas to make it pass no matter what?

But seriously, if you're not pushing a good amount of boost/hp, the losses of a cat(highflow), will be minimal. But in my case I was pushing around 400 hp, so the loss was a bit more.
Yes in theory, on a turbo car, no restrictions is the best way to go. But that's not taking into account other factors... such as not having the smell catch up to you at stoplights, giving your girlfriend a headache on long drives, contributing to california's already disgusting pollution, etc....
daily driver = high flow cat
butthead driving his daily driver = test pipe
race car = test pipe

yes, it smells pretty bad.
under light driving, you might not notice anything, but the people behind you will.
under heavy driving you'll definitely get a wiff of it occasionally, and if you have a friend following you, he'll think he's driving behind a semi-.
just my experience
