Disconnect the battery and reconnect after a time to reset the ECU?

Disconnected the battery for 5 minutes before reconnecting. No change can be "felt" what-so-ever. Even replaced the air filter because it was a little dirty.

A friend of mine swears his Z06 vette got slower after about 5,000 miles, but everyone, including the dealer, has concluded he's just used to the feel, and the power is still there. Hopefully this is what happened to you, and not a boost leak.

Find a dyno that has benchmarked stock evos. Compare your results to the other stockers. That's how you'll know for sure.

If you don't want to do that, go test drive a new Evo.

I'd bet your car is normal and you're just used to it.

I suggest a boost leak test although I think I'm in the same shoes as you. Seems like my car is slower then before. I think I need to do a compression test but after driving my civic the power on the EVO seem to have come back until few days later.

And the pshhhh sound upon laying off the gas is gone and so this is normal? It used to be there, but no more, I swear it was.

You guys are right, though, maybe I need to take it to a tune shop for professional recomendations or stick it on a dyno. Just to make sure it isn't my butt dyno that is uncalibrated.

A few months ago I took the car to R&R Racing in El Cajon, CA. Ryan spent some time looking at it and determined it is running like stock, as it should be, as it is stock, still. On special occasions my A'PEXi EL2 boost gauge peaks at 133kPa (~19PSI), but it never holds it there. I see others have reported peaking at 19PSI then dropping to 16PSI due to the behaviour of the car or atmosphere pressure or such. At one time, I could hear the BOV gently through the intake, but no more, and no one believes me that I did, but I have friends who have heard it as well. It was a little sweet: Functional AND Esthetic. It is still agressive, but the torque is still flat across the band. Should it feel flat? Or should you feel magic at 3500RPM? Its quite flat using the butt-dyno. Maybe I should find me a AWD dyno. Is this a reliable method of troubleshooting (or at least to give me confidence)? There must be one down here in SoCal.

get a boost guage if you don't have one, and make sure you're not getting a leak somewhere...

This is perfectly normal, you have become complacent with the stock power levels. This means you either need to accept that and live with it, or modify. Once you modify you will hear the BOV much more and your boost will hold steady. However when you start playing the modding game, you'll always want more.

Yup, boost gauge, A'PEXi EL2. 133 kPa max is what I'm seeing.

...maybe its time to start modding and upset the dealership... hmmmm....turbo back exhaust....mushroom intake filter...hmmmm....

Got a dyno pull done: http://www.shampooshampoo.com/car.html
Its a work in progress, so bare with the data. The peak is actually 218.7HP to the wheels (apparently my scale is off a wee little bit, sorry) but the slopes are accurate. The torque appears to start dropping off around 5000 RPM. Horsepower starts to fall of at around 6200 RPM. 5252 RPM is, of course where torque = horsepower: Power (hp) = Torque (ft-lb) * RPM / 5252. I figure 271 HP (manufacturer spec'ed) - 219 HP (at the wheels) = 52 HP loss in the system from the crank to the wheels. Does all this look as expected?

Sun Microsystem's Java 5.0 is required as the data is drawn in real time.

Seems like almost everyone wants you to get addicted to turbo-crack ;-)

I'd vote for you're getting used to it. Put on some more ponies and wear that for a while.
